Are you a well connected individual in the Calgary Tech/Startup Scene? A natural connector that enjoys meeting people and making connections? Do you love the idea of making an impact in your community and a difference in people’s lives?
Lighthouse Labs is a Web Development Bootcamp that prepares students for careers as full stack developers. Our program delivers a one of a kind learning experience that prepares students to work as junior devs right after graduation. Using advanced technology and in-person mentorship, our bootcamp creates a seamless and personalized education experience connecting students to awesome devs and instructors across the country. Additionally, we offer Intro courses for students who want to learn the fundamentals of coding.
We have a unique community driven approach to education, and it’s important for us that students are immersed in more than just code. That's why we partner with tech leaders and organizations in the local community to expose students to the culture, companies, and opportunities within their local tech sector. To make this happen, the Career Services & Community Lead is to act as an ambassador who engages and connects with prospective employers, students, developers, and media in their local community.
This position also plays a significant role in supporting Calgarian students in their post-graduation job hunt by ensuring all students accepted into the program are set up for a successful future career as a professional developer. You’ll work directly with our employers, in order to understand their needs and connect them with the most suitable students via one-on-one interviews and at events you’ll help organize! You’ll also work directly with students in order to prepare them for the job hunt -- including running workshops on resume writing and interviewing skills and act as a career advisor as our alumni navigate from classroom to the real world.
Who are you?

You’ve got 2-5 years relevant experience, including direct or indirect experience with events & logistics, marketing, recruiting, HR, customer service/experience, etc. You are adaptive, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, empathetic, and have self-discipline -- a significant amount of this role is self-directed. You are extremely organized, able to multitask like a pro and understand the need for metrics and data to make decisions. Huge bonus points for working in tech and/or knowing how to code!
