Are you an Int-Sr level full stack developer who has a passion for helping train the next generation of devs? Are you a natural ‘teacher’ and are excited about the opportunity to build upon or gain experience in this area? Do you believe the best way of learning is by doing and learning from professionals? Are you eager to surround yourself in a culture of smart people? Do you love the idea of making a difference in the lives of students?
If this sounds like you we’d love to chat about our teaching and mentoring opportunities at Lighthouse Labs!
Lighthouse Labs is an intense 10-week bootcamp that turns beginners into professional developers. Teaching at Lighthouse Labs is secondary to most developers’ primary responsibility. We offer a schedule and a consistent time commitment that works around your current job/ freelancing gigs/ side projects/ startup. (We want you to keep coding and contributing to community!) We are currently seeking mentors who can work daytime shifts for up to 30 hours per week. We encourage you to apply even if you only have a few daytime hours a week to mentor. Mentoring takes place on site at Edison Building and Compensation is hourly.
Mentors are responsible for handling any and all questions that come up. This includes pair programming and debugging issues with them, which in most cases is more valuable for the students than giving them an answer. Code reviewing and helping students refactor their code is also a big part of being a mentor.
Gender, racial and ethnic diversity is important to us so we highly encourage people of diverse backgrounds to apply for this position!
If this sounds like you, please apply to firstname.lastname@example.org with your resume and why you’re good for the role!
