Montreal Turns Three By: Alain Wong June 25, 2019 Updated September 9, 2022 Estimated reading time: 1 minutes. In May, we celebrated a big milestone: our 3rd year anniversary in Montreal! For the occasion, we welcomed friends and family into our new space at Spaces Mile End, where we’ve expanded classrooms and will be hosting overlapping cohorts for the first time. Featuring snacks from L'Gros Luxe and a dance performance by DeaD AnglE CreW, this Demo Day felt extra special as both Jeremy Shaki, co-founder and CEO, and Nicole Husain, director of operations, made a surprise visit to celebrate with us. Our grads presented 2 projects: 1) My Bump Trainer, a pregnancy fitness app that helps women keep track of nutrition and fitness. 2) Clearmind, a booking app that facilitates access to mental health specialists. My Bump Trainer The team of Hannah Sutton-Molnar, Virgile Patrignani, Marlon De La Cruz built an app to easily measure and track your daily behaviors to optimize your health during pregnancy. Built with React-App, MaterialUi, Axios, Ruby-on-Rails and PostgresSQL, the Bump Trainer user interface is divided into three sections to display personal information about the user's health: health, food diet and exercise, and lets users compare with benchmark guidelines from the Public Health Agency of Canada. Clearmind The team of Duruhan Unsal and David Newman built a booking app that facilitates access to mental health specialists. Having personal experience with a member of the family who is being treated for a mental health problem, they had a personal reason to build this project and intend to deploy and pursue the project after bootcamp. Built with React, Rails, PSQL, JWT authentication, Dialogflow API, Google Maps API, Twilio API, React Router API, Bootstrap, the Clearmind app shows a directory of mental health professionals on a map, and lets you make an appointment by booking and getting a confirmation via SMS notification. Additionally, the app includes a resources page that lets you browsing articles on mental health, and a Dialogflow-powered chatbot to answer your questions.
