WHAT DO CYBER SECURITY PROFESSIONALS DO?

The world of cyber security includes a whole range of specializations. Here are a few of them.

Security Analyst

Security analysts monitor, prevent and stop attacks on private data. In this role, you can expect to spend your days designing and implementing firewalls and other digital security software systems to protect data and network systems across an organization.

Incident Responder/Handler

Incident Responders/Handlers are responsible for identifying, analyzing, and mitigating security breaches or incidents. They work to minimize damage to a organization's systems and data by investigating the cause and scope of an incident, as well as implementing measures to prevent future attacks.

Security Researcher

Security researchers hold one of the most essential roles in cyber security. They design security protocols and study the evolution of unique malware strains that allow other cyber security professionals to monitor and detect vulnerablilities in their networks.

FAQ

  • Do I get a diploma upon graduation?

While our philosophy isn’t based around credentials and instead seeks to set you up with the tools you need to be a lifelong effective, adaptive, and curious learner throughout your career — we do award Bootcamp and Flex Program digital diplomas upon graduation.

  • What is the difference between a Bootcamp and a Flex Program?

Both bootcamps and flex programs cover the same material. Students of both will become familiar with their chosen program's fundamental concepts and techniques. The key difference between these delivery formats is the structure. A Flex program has lectures two days a week over a more extended period of time, whereas a Bootcamp is a more intense, full-time experience. These two programs accommodate a wider variety of student lifestyles, priorities, and preferred learning paces so that students can strike a balance that works for them without compromising on quality.

  • I'm not sure which program to take. How can I decide?

Your next career move should take your existing skills, interests, goals, and experiences into consideration. You already possess specific skills like problem-solving, creativity, or leadership that can be leveraged into your ideal tech career. All that's missing are the right tech skills: this is where Lighthouse Labs comes in, equipping you with the necessary tools to succeed. We put together the Tech Skills Quiz that aligns your abilities with the best tech career choice and which program to take to get there. Take the quiz today and discover your perfect tech career match.

  • Will I get a job after the Cyber Security Program even if I have no prior background?

Yes! You don’t need any experience in cyber security to succeed and be connected to employment afterward. This program will provide you with everything you need to work as a cyber security professional at an entry-level or junior position.

  • What type of job can I expect to get after graduating from the Cyber Security Program?

Depending on the performance of our graduates during the program and their previous related experiences and education, our successful grads will be equipped for any of the following roles at a junior level: *Cyber Security Analyst *Information Security Analyst *Incident Responder/Handler *Network Security Specialist *Risk Analyst

  • Do I need to have experience in programming languages to take this program?

Our programs are an excellent fit for non-technical people as well as those with some tech or digital experience, including recent graduates and those looking for a career pivot. No previous IT or programming experience is required to attend Lighthouse Labs. Previous experience or knowledge may benefit you in the program, but it is in no way necessary for you to succeed. We have found it is more important that every student displays grit, as well as a commitment to teamwork and a genuine interest in building their future career.

  • Why is there a Prep Course before the start of the Cyber Security Program?

The first step to becoming a cyber security professional is laying your basic foundation with our Prep Course. The 40 hours you’ll spend on completing preparatory work will introduce the basic technologies you’ll use to get you ready and set to learn in the classroom on Day 1.
