Digital Skills for Youth (DS4Y) Program
Until March, 2022
This Project is funded in part by the Government of Canada.The Digital Skills for Youth (DS4Y) Program is a wage subsidy program that connects underemployed post-secondary graduates with digital employment opportunities at small businesses where youth can gain meaningful work experience to help them transition to career-oriented employment. This is our way of helping Canada’s youth prepare for the digital workforce.
Black Youth Reskilling
March 2021 - March 2022
This Project is funded in part by the Government of Ontario.Black Boys Code, together with project partners Lighthouse Labs and Riipen will pilot the Black Youth Reskilling in Tech Project. Over a 12 month period, this project will support 100 black youth aged 18-29 based in Ontario, with in-demand technical training and job opportunities towards starting lifelong careers in the tech industry. Black Boys Code will be providing wrap around support for the youth throughout the entire program, through a graduation coach.
Youth in Tech in Partnership with Immigrant Services Society of BC

This Project is funded in part by the Government of Canada and the Government of British Columbia..Youth in Tech provides digital skills and job readiness training for immigrant youth ages 17-29 to help them launch a career in tech - web development, digital marketing/design, or information & communications technology courses.
Foresight Cleantech Accelerator Centre - Skills for a Clean Economy
April 2021 - March 2022
Funded by the Government of Canada under the Future Skills Program.In response to the impact of COVID-19 in clean economy sectors, Foresight, in collaboration with Lighthouse Labs and other partners, will undertake national research to identify regions and workforce segments that have been disproportionately affected and scope projected demand for roles and retraining required to advance the clean economy. The program will support skills development and job creation, deployment of clean technology, and advance a training framework for future cleantech jobs to meet Canada's clean economy transition.
Path to Customer Success (Path2CS)
Funded by the Government of Canada under the Future Skills Program.Lighthouse Labs is a proud contributor to the Career Foundation's Path to Customer Success Initiative. Path to Customer Success is a multi-year program to train 120 women from across Ontario who lost their jobs in the service industry during COVID-19. Participants take part in soft skills, data, remote work and career support training with the goal of putting them on a more resilient career path.
Fast Track to Technology Careers (F2TC) in partnership with MOSAIC
This Project is funded in part by the Government of British Columbia.MOSAIC’s Fast Track to Technology Careers is a 6 month program where 33 participants will undergo 12 weeks of intensive, full time skills training to receive a diploma in Web Development or Data Science from Lighthouse Labs. Once certified, MOSAIC will connect participants with employers to gain employment with in-demand tech jobs through a customized career plan and networking opportunities.
Xtreme Talent Accelerator in partnership with Invest Ottawa
This Project is funded in part by the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario.Lighthouse Labs is partnering with Xtreme Talent Accelerator, a program created by Invest Ottawa that offers industry led tech workshops and career development support to help individuals who are looking to start or advance their career in technology. During the program’s duration, Lighthouse Labs will deliver upskilling training to 150 participants through 4 different learning streams (2 frontend and 2 backend streams of web development education) and also deliver reskilling training to up to 75 participants via open enrollment in the Web Development, Data Science and Cyber Bootcamps. Led by industry leaders, participants will be taught ready-to-use skills that are in high demand from tech employers.
OWN Initiative
This Project is funded in part by the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario.Running until March 2022, this initiative will provide 250 Ontarians with a focus on newcomer women with the needed skills (technical and pre-employment/soft skills) to achieve careers in web development. Lighthouse Labs is coming together with community partners/training delivery partners (Achēv, Ottawa Chinese Community Service Centre, YMCA GTA who will also engage YMCAs across Ontario) and the leading business/industry association (CATA Alliance), to provide an innovative, made-in-Ontario solution to the employment and skills barriers experienced by unemployed and underemployed Ontarians and newcomer women. This initiative will be used to address skills and labour market access barriers for both Ontarians/newcomer women and the employers who hire them.
Indigenous Tech Talent Development in partnership with First Nations Technology Council (FNTC)

The Bridging to Technology program provides Indigenous youth with comprehensive wrap-around training and services they need to pursue specialized training in a technical field. 73% of graduates to date are working in developer or tech related roles.
Women Learning to Code & Take Leadership in partnership with International Development and Relief Foundation and The United Way Greater Toronto.
April 2018 - Ongoing
Lighthouse Labs and IDRF acknowledge The United Way Greater Toronto and Women United for their support for this initiative.Women Learn to Code & Take Leadership encourages the emerging generation of young women to consider a career in Tech. Through an introductory course in Front-End Fundamentals in Javascript and Web Development Bootcamps, participants learn the skills to start their careers as Full-Stack Developers. This program has achieved a 100% employment rate and eliminated barriers to employment for diverse groups of young women.
Code Create Teach in partnership with Kids Code Jeunesse
February 2018 - March 2021
Designed to provide teachers in every province and territory with the confidence and tools needed to bring the fundamentals of computational thinking and coding into the classrooms. LHL supported 2,703 teachers through over 100 free one-day introductory workshops on coding and computational thinking.
OWN Tech Initiative
April 2020 - March 2021
This Project is funded in part by the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario.Lighthouse Labs comes together with the Ottawa Chinese Community Service Centre, CATA Alliance, My New Job Hunt, Riipen and the Social Planning Council of Ottawa to provide an innovative, made-in-Ontario solution to the employment and skills barriers experienced by newcomer women in the Ottawa and Eastern Ontario region. Sixty newcomer women with a background in IT upskill in a bootcamp format with in-demand technical skills and complementary soft skills. Then, employment services will be provided to match them with employers to start a career commensurate with background and experience.
Soldiers in Tech Project in partnership with Roland Gossage Foundation
This Project is funded in part by the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario.Soldiers in Tech is a program that helps veterans begin new chapters in their careers, and transition to civilian life, by using technology. This program provides training and employment support to veterans in Ontario.
Accelerating Possibilities Project in partnership with Woodgreen Community Services
This Project is funded in part by the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario.Accelerating Possibilities: Pathways to Employment in IT and Insurance brings together a consortium of employers, non-profit employment and training organizations and private trainers to prepare mid-career workers for tech-driven jobs in web development, data science and insurance customer support. We want to make sure that no one feels left behind in the world of new technology and that all workers have the opportunity to meet their full potential.
BC Teaching Teachers
Past initiative
The British Columbia government unveiled an important plan to introduce computational thinking and coding into the K-12 school curriculum. In partnership with Kids Code Jeunesse and BC’s Ministry of Education, Lighthouse Labs provided coding education to teachers across BC where they fostered an understanding of computational thinking, technology and basic coding.
HTML 500
Created by Lighthouse Labs to inspire Canadians to shape their community through code. HTML 500 was Canada’s largest one-day event where 50 of Canada’s top tech companies came together to teach 500 participants how to code for free! By the end of the day, participants networked with over 100 developers and created their own landing page using popular programming languages.
